Biography

Aline Masiosare was not given a name so much as found with one.

A Seeker of the Sun child, about five years old, hungry and alone near a camp outside Limsa Lominsa, wore nothing that explained her — except a necklace bearing the words Aline Masiosare. Ririyuno Gogoyuno, a Dunesfolk Lalafell weaver-merchant out of Ul'dah, asked the obvious questions. No one was looking. No “Masiosare” sat in any ledger he could reach. He took her into his camp, and then into his life.

He raised her in a modest Goblet home with private tutors and a merchant’s education: letters, history, numbers, the patience of cloth and coin. She was not starved of comfort, but she was starved of peers. Constant travel and a quiet household left her skilled, lonely, and careful not to need anyone too much. Ririyuno was her father in every way that mattered — even if neither of them said the word out loud.

What filled the gaps were roads: landscapes framed by carriage windows, hired blades on the highway, the sense that a warrior could walk anywhere. At twelve she slipped into the Gladiators’ Guild without permission. When Ririyuno caught her, he did not only punish; he closed. She was locked in the house for a stretch of days and sermons, and afterward the trips stopped. He was angry because he was terrified. She was sorry she had been seen — not sorry she had wanted a blade. Something between them never quite came back.

By fourteen she was restless in every assigned thing: clothes, chores, lessons, the life that had been chosen for her. She met Susule Sule, a prodigy fighter Lalafell Flame Sergeant who taught her how to fight like someone who meant it.

Then the fire. Ririyuno was murdered under a plot that would later trace, through ugly channels, toward other merchant Lalefells and the Immortal Flames. Aline did not know anything when her home burned. The teddy bear her father had sewn for her did not survive. The necklace did. She fled Ul'dah alone — ash in her lungs, metal at her throat — and for a while she behaved as if surviving were an administrative error.

Alone, she became an adventurer the hard way: missions that asked too much, a willingness to put her life on the table as if it were already spent. Dark Knight suited the shape of her grief — a tank’s duty learned late: freedom is empty if no one is left standing behind the shield. Samurai came later, with rivalry and ink she put on her own skin — a black path from elbow to shoulder to waist.

Cozy Sofa was never a ruse. It was the first place she tried to build on purpose — a Free Company house that offered the soft landing she had been denied, and that she still half-believed she did not deserve. She misses the Goblet the way one misses a language. She wants walls that are hers someday.

It is Susule who eventually sets the truth of her father’s death in her hands — and, harder than any dossier, names what Aline does to herself. Aline answers with anger. Then with the harder thing: staying. Learning she does not have to abandon everyone else is the longer work. She still looks up at night at the stars.

Personality

A chaotic, impatient doer who looks apathetic and rude so no one sees how emotional she is — honest when she speaks, silent when it matters, open only in cracks.

Lonely

She decided early that destiny is to be alone — easier than waiting to be left. The foundling silence (no parents in any ledger) and a life of tutors and roads trained her to keep people at arm’s length. Attachment feels like a promise the world has already broken once.

Reckless (grief)

After the fire she treats her life like coin she does not mind spending. Dangerous work, no flinch, the kind of legend that sounds brave until someone names it: she is not fearless — she is unfinished mourning wearing a blade. The recklessness is loudest in the years she is still running.

Self-hardening

Stoic face, rude edges, “whatever” as a shield. She knows a great deal and does not perform softness to make others comfortable. The hardness is not arrogance; it is armor cut to the shape of a girl who was scolded for wanting a sword and then lost the only home that scolding came from.

Protective (learned)

She thought “warrior” meant walking wherever she pleased. Tank work corrected her. Freedom means little if the people behind the shield are gone. Dark Knight is grief given duty: hold the line because someone has to.

Rough-tongued

Educated enough to sound Sharlayan-adjacent on a good day, rough enough to sound like she never sat a private lesson. She treats people as equals — same chances, same push. If they lag, she does not flatter them past it.

Soft in the inside

Night sky is the one study she never cheated. She will tip her head back whenever she can. Cozy Sofa is the other soft thing: a house she built to mean come in, not prove you deserve air. She still wants walls that are only hers. She still misses a teddy bear the ash took.
